Congratulations to David Peters and Will Tenney on passing their respective Eagle Boards of Review on April 30, 2019!

Troop 168 had a terrific 2018!   Two highlights are that we again earned the Gold rating on our 2018 Scouting's Journey to Excellence and the Pope Paul VI award.  We also had 60% of the troop advance at least one rank - including 6 Eagle Scouts.  We did multiple service projects for our sponsor, Saint Patrick Church, and others, including 8 Eagle Projects.  We went to the Klondike, Battleship, Rodney, Whitewater rafting, and our own campouts and activities.

We anticipate that 2019 will be another fun and successful year!

Troop 168 Guidance

On 10/29/2018, T168 Troop Committee approved a document titled Troop 168 Guidance.   All T168 Scouts and families should familiarize themselves with this document and its expectations.

2018 Scouting for Food

Once again, Saint Patrick Parish Boy Scout program participated in Scouting for Food!

Pack 168 canvassed door to door to distribute flyers on 3 November; Troop 168 re-canvassed the same areas to pick up the donated food on 10 November.

Boy Scouts of America announced temporary transition rules for youth over 16 but not yet 18 years of age on February 1, 2019, interested in earning the Eagle Scout rank.

Members of Troop 168 observed the 11th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony led by the Lewis B. Puller Jr Detachment Marine Corps League #524.  It was held on September 8, 2018, at the Army Heritage Education Center in Carlisle.

Troop 168 earns Honor Troop Award at Rodney Scout Camp

Twenty-five (25) of our Scouts earned the Honor Troop Award at summer camp the week of June 17-23, 2018, at Rodney Scout Reservation in North East, MD. This marks the sixth consecutive year T168 earned this distinction!  To earn the Honor Troop Award, the troop must maintain a healthy and safe campsite and participate in several camp-wide competitions and events.

While at camp, our Scouts earned 62 merit badges in 34 diverse areas: Animation, Archery, Athletics, Bird Study, Camping, Canoeing, Citizenship in The World, Climbing, Communication, Cooking, Cycling, Engineering, Environmental Science, Fishing, Forestry, Game Design, Geocaching, Kayaking, Leatherwork, Lifesaving, Motorboating, Nature, Orienteering, Personal Fitness, Pottery, Rifle Shooting, Robotics, Rowing, Shotgun Shooting, Small Boat Sailing, Soil and Water Conservation, Swimming, Water Sports, Weather, Wilderness Survival and Wood Carving.  Three of our older Scouts were able to Jet Ski.  During the week, ten (10) Scouts advanced in Rank.

Troop 168 has earned the Pope Paul VI National Catholic Unit Excellence Award for the 11th consecutive year!

Cooperation, development, and program are the key words in the recognition of Catholic chartered units in earning the National Catholic Quality Unit Award - Pope Paul VI. The adult leadership responds to training not only in Scouting lores, but training in Catholic Scouter Development, and religious counseling. The Scouts in each Pack, Troop, Team, and Crew/Ship respond by participating in the religious emblems program respective of their status in Scouting.
